How 2020 turned out to be one of our best years yet!
2020 was…….we will let you fill in the blanks! With a pandemic sweeping the globe, life as we once knew it has not been the same since.
It has been a difficult year for so many of us, with lockdowns affecting every business in one way or another, including ours when the first lockdown made getting materials to our sites which remained open throughout, extremely difficult. However, whilst that period was certainly challenging and stressful for everyone involved in managing that situation, it is easy to get hung up on the negatives. When we looked back over the year, we found we were recounting more positives than minuses and we wanted to share these.
We started the year working on our company makeover, full of the optimism of what the year would bring (little did we know!)….New Year, new image and all of that! After continuing to grow, we felt our previous branding was growing out of touch, so after a few months of hard work behind the scenes in August we revealed our new logo, shortly followed by our new website.
Along with giving our company image some love, we also got round to doing plenty of what we do best, building houses! Lower Broad Park was a site we began a couple of years ago. Located in the tucked-away village of West Down, near Ilfracombe, these beautiful modern homes were just a short drive away from some of Devon’s most renowned beaches. Sales of these houses over the second half of the year were really strong with people drawn to the beautiful countryside and dramatic coast, with many residents enjoying their first Christmas in their new homes last month.
We also began work on our next big development project, Manor Court. A stunning collection of 19 new build homes, plus five barn conversions in the beautiful rural village of Bishop’s Caundle in Dorset. Despite facing a second lockdown, we managed to make some exceptional progress with this development and our thatched showhome is now just a few weeks from completion.
Finally, we also snuck in at the end of 2020 starting work on yet another exciting project, Yeabridge Court Barns. Changing it up from new build homes, Yeabridge Court Barns will be an exquisite collection of just 11 Grade II listed barn conversions in the hamlet of Yeabridge, near South Petherton – another rural beauty spot!
2020 may not have been the year we expected, but thanks to our fabulous team here at Acorn Homes it still ended up being a fantastic year. With so many exciting developments in the pipeline we are remaining optimistic at what 2021 will bring.
